Good but left me wanting for a little more
Let me first state that I'm predisposed to like movies such as Grow!. We live on a small hobby farm and raise egg layers and a garden and have bees and all that. So I'm going to be drawn to such movies because I'm looking for positive stories about farming and gardening and working hard. They had me at the title.
I liked hearing firsthand from the farmers themselves. There were some similar stories among them and they all seemed to come from a similar stock of folks - the more educated young person whom Joel Salatin speaks about being a vital component of a successful small-scale farming operation. These were folks with wits about them and a drive to make a go of it. That was encouraging.
It is a short film though - maybe an hour in length - and I felt like it barely got at a level lower than its trailer. For me, that was disappointing. It is great - and I mean this sincerely - to hear their stories and talk about their love of getting up and working hard...
Great!
Excellent information on the organic farming movement in GA, I am so very proud and excited to live in a state that has so many options for fresh food!
Well worth the rental!!
Beautifully done, great film on organic producers in Georgia!
If you want a good look at the joys and sorrows of organic producers this is the film to watch. Beautifully photographed and edited. Focus is on producers in Georgia, mostly vegetables and fruits, but also poultry, beef and pork. Covers multiple producers from large to small and how they got started, market and the lifestyle the vocation brings. Thumbs up !
