Great movie of a bygone era.
When I was a kid in the 1950s this movie was on TV at least two times a year and I and my family watched it every time it came on. It's an endearing story of a time that no longer exists, when young ladies of middle school age actually shopped in the "Junior Miss" Dept. Nowadays, many of the clothes in the "Juniors" dept. look as grown up and sexy as anything you find in "Misses". This is a story of family, friendship, coming of age that will stay with you for a long time. There is much humor, a little romance and some funny misunderstandings. It has never been released even on VHS, but now that it is finally released it's on DVD. Hooray!
A Real Classic!
I just received this DVD and may I say the quality is great! I was hoping that it would be clear and crisp, and sure enough it is! A no-frills DVD, but that is fine as I am just happy to have the movie in any form...
The story is hilarious and Peggy Ann Garner (one of my favorites) is just adorable as the title character. The supporting cast which includes Mona Freeman, Allyn Joslyn, Scotty Beckett, and a very young Mel Torme in a quick scene, but you will laugh just the same. Judy's best friend Fuffy Adams has a striking resemblance to Rosie O'Donnell, and a personality to match! If you have never seen this film, please don't hesitate! You will never be sorry! A laugh a minute!
A great on-demand product!
YES! Get this one! You get a "no frills" yet, not unattractive case with decent artwork. The DVD has a nice, straightforward design on it, again, no frills. There are no extras, closed captioning, scene menus, etc. The DVD is made in cooperation with Fox itself, so the print is clean, the sound high-quality. It's priced about right (cheap for something made on demand). You get a good product!
Hey, Amazon! Get us some more Fox movies! We'll buy them just like we did this one. Keep us posted!!!
