Independent Lens: Strong! [HD]

Well Done
This documentary covers the struggles and triumphs of a female athlete in a male dominated sport. Cheryl challenges society's gender expectations for women to be thin and not "bulky". She shows us how women can be strong, big, feminine, and beautiful.
Any athlete can relate to Cheryl's obstacle of injuries. It is always difficult to know when to walk away from a sport that was your life. I think she puts into words very well what it's like to experience the identity shift that comes with both being an injured athlete and retiring from a sport.

Great documentary
I always loved the world of olympic weightlifting. Cheryl Haworth did an incredible job representing America in the Olympics, Pan- Am games, Nationals and etc.......

Memory Lane
I used to be a weight lifter and power lifter whe nI was in my teens and early 20s. I never went far but it was fun and I enjoyed it. This doc was a great way to introduce the sport to my wife and tell some stories of my own.

The story in this doc is a good one too. I have sympathy Cheryl and, when I get a chance, will look her up and see what she is up to today (as the doc took place in cir. 2008??). Really interesting lady with many talents.
